One vegan meal a day holds the baby weight at bay: How Beyonce keeps off the 60lbs she gained during pregnancy

Beyonce's trainer has revealed that the singer eats one vegan meal a day to keep off her pregnancy weight.
The 31-year-old mother - who admitted to Oprah in an interview last week that she gained a whopping 57lbs while pregnant with daughter Blue Ivy - apparently avoids eating animal products to maintain her fit, post-baby body.
Her trainer, Marco Borges, told Life & Style that he recommended veganism to his client because it 'typically gets people to eat more greens than they normally would.'

And it seems there is some evidence to support Mr Borges' recommendation.
The vegan diet - which involves cutting out all animal products including dairy and eggs - ranked fourth on the Daily Beast's 14 best diets for 2013.

Although its guidelines are strict, those who follow a vegan lifestyle benefit from lower cholesterol and blood pressure, a decreased risk of heart disease and effective weight-loss results.

But this is not a new change for Beyonce.
Even during her pregnancy, Us Weekly reported that she and husband Jay-Z both stuck to a 'partially-vegan' diet to stay healthy and energetic together.
And since giving birth to daughter Blue Ivy, Beyonce has continued to snack on vegan foods like edamame, green apples and cucumbers sprinkled with vinegar, cayenne pepper and lemon.
According to Beyonce's trainer, the singer's diet plan - which saw her back on stage just three months after giving birth - also includes just a protein shake for lunch.
But it isn't just a modified diet that helps Beyonce maintain her weight loss.
Intense training and dance routines also play a large part.
In the weeks before her Super Bowl performance, the singer was doing 'running-spring intervals for quick cardio sessions and also...running stairs,' says her trainer.
